Salisbury Cathedral proudly hosts an original copy of the Magna Carta. It is 800 years since its signing. The Magna Carta represents 'justice, fairness and human rights' although arguably - women didn't get much of a deal and we've still some way to go... nevertheless it was an important document and those symbolic Magna Carta tenets are worth holding on to in this modern society with its consistent erosion of community values, our human rights and our freedoms. On Monday June 15th 2015, Wiltshire towns and villages came together in Salisbury to hold a 'Wiltshire Pageant' which processed through the City and ended up in the Cathedral Close for music and fireworks. It was wonderful to see all the various individual towns and districts of Wiltshire being represented by people from all walks of life (not just the dignitaries) and the people who participated had worked so hard to make it a spectacle worth watching. The giant Barons all looked fantastic and they meandered through the City towering over the procession. I'm glad we took the time to go and watch.
